Winter Vacation Begins

All of us at Hoover wish our families a fantastic vacation period! We hope you all find time to share special books and activities together during these next few weeks. School will be closed beginning today through January 2nd. We can’t wait to see you all in the new year! Classes resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2012!

Winter Break Opportunity

Dear Terrific Hoover Community,

I hope that you are all having a great day so far. One of our parents (Mr. Dohrn) works for DePaul University’s athletic department and has offered our school community free vouchers that can be used to get free DePaul Blue Demon basketball tickets. The voucher is good for 4 free tickets to the men’s or women’s games.

The men’s basketball games are held at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont. The games are for December 17th and December 21st.

The women’s games are played on campus in Lincoln Park (Chicago) and those dates are December 16th, December 22nd, and December 31st. The voucher is good for anyone of the games.

We have 200 vouchers that are available. If you are interested in the vouchers, please call our school office at 847 357-5800 and we will send them home with your child. Just let us know how many vouchers you want. This is a first come first serve opportunity and we will keep processing your requests until we run out of vouchers.

This might be fun for your family over winter break.

Burgers and Books This Evening

Dear Terrific Hoover Community,
I hope that you had a great weekend. We had a busy week at school and our students are doing an outstanding job with their winter MAP assessments. We have one additional week of MAP testing.

We have our annual community ‘Burgers and Books’ event this evening. Please join us at Fuddruckers to eat tonight. Please bring the attached flyer in the Hawk, so that our PTA can receive a percentage of the amount that you spend on dinner. Please bring the Barnes and Noble flyer as well if you decide to purchase anything tonight. Our library will receive a portion the HMSA sales to be used to purchase books.

Volunteers Needed for Holidays at Hoover

We are in need of volunteers for the Holidays at Hoover on Saturday, December 10th! Volunteers can work the entire time, 8:15 to 11:30 or work the 1st or 2nd shift (8:15 – 9:45 and 9:45 – 11:30).
