A Wonderful Evening!

Posted Wednesday, January 26th, 2011 by schittenden

Tonight was a wonderful evening!  Hoover participated in the Open Enrollment Night at Addams Junior High School.  Mr. Chung, members of the Hoover staff, and students in our garden club attended and enjoyed sharing what makes Hoover so special!    We met many families with interest in joining our Hoover community.  Herbie even joined in and welcomed the families as they entered!

Coming Fall 2011 - Click for Information!

Hoover School was ranked by the Chicago Sun Times as the 89th best elementary school in the Chicagoland area and the 102nd best elementary school for the state of Illinois.

This is a wonderful honor and we applaud our students, staff, parents, and community members for helping us make this possible.

Please consider supporting our Fannie Mae candy fundraiser.  Our prices are approximately 20% cheaper then a retail store and the products are mailed directly to your house, so you do not have to pick up the items at school.  Our sale ends on November 12th.  We appreciate your support.

Thank you…

 Sincerely,

Jake Chung

Coming Fall 2011!

We appreciate all of your support!  Your attendance at conferences was appreciated.  Enjoy the extended weekend with your children.  There will be no classes on Monday, October 11th in observance of Columbus Day.

Open Enrollment Fair scheduled for January 26!
A goal of our District 54 Board of Education is to provide choice for parents in the selection of their child’s school. In addition to the neighborhood school, we have developed programs at several district schools, which we can now offer as choices.

District 54 invites parents to its annual Open Enrollment Fair from 6:30-8 p.m. Jan. 26, 2011. The fair will provide parents with information on eight schools in our district: Blackwell, Dirksen, Dooley, Enders-Salk, Hanover Highlands, Hoover, Lincoln Prairie, Link and MacArthur. Each of these schools houses a unique program and we anticipate a few openings at each site next year.

Please know that you do not need to arrive early to get a spot at one of the schools. While applications are available on Jan. 26, names will not be chosen that evening. In addition, people who cannot attend the event can still apply for their children to attend one of our open enrollment schools.

The fair will take place at Addams Junior High School, 700 S. Springinsguth Road in Schaumburg. Overflow parking can be found one block south at St. Marcelline’s Church. A short, formal presentation by Superintendent Ed Rafferty will be followed by opportunities for parents to visit each school’s booth and learn about each program in greater detail.

Hoover Math and Science Academy will explain how it offers instruction using Inquiry Based Science units through the grade levels. This will be the first year of the new program but many of the units have been successfully implemented in the classroom already.  The units encourage partnerships between grade levels where the older students can mentor younger students through the learning process.   Our green house and garden will also offer students a chance for hands on efforts with the life cycle and experiences with community volunteers and seniors from Friendship Village.
