UnderwoodSchool District 54, the Village of Schaumburg and the Schaumburg Township District Library will host a free multifaceted recycling event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the District 54 Office, 524 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg. The following items will be recycled:
- Electronics: Televisions, household batteries, small household appliances, microwaves, monitors, computers, keyboards, mice, radios, video cassette recorders, telephones, fax machines, UPS systems, and more.
- Document Destruction: Shred up to two boxes. Envelopes with windows, paper clips and staples are OK. No plastics, CD’s or plastic bags. All paper is recycled.
- Clothing, shoes, purses, belts, hats, back packs, towels, linens and other household textiles
- Automotive Batteries
- Holiday light strands, extension cords, copper wiring, computer wiring, phone wires, CAD V coaxial cable.
- Motor oil and antifreeze
- Bicycles, wheelchairs and sewing machines
- Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL)
- Cell phones and other wireless devices
- Eyeglasses
- American flags
Paint, gas, paint thinner and other hazardous waste will not be accepted. For more information, click to view the flyer or call District 54’s director of business services, Darlene Russo, at (847) 357-5024.

Hoover’s Make a Difference Club is assembling care packages to send to soldiers stationed overseas. Our theme is “Let Us Entertain You” because we have learned that one of the major challenges our servicemen and women are experiencing during their down time is boredom and loneliness.
District 54 maintenance department personnel have graciously offered to help us with the cost of postage! Yeah! Collection starts immediately and runs through April. Thank you for supporting this project!

- Small puzzles
- Crossword, Sudoku, Trivia books, etc.
- Magazines
- Travel games, Small card games
- Paperback books
- M & Ms (best traveler!)
- Snacks (*Beef Jerky, trail mix, microwave popcorn, gum, movie candy, etc.)
Comfort Items Requested
- Small Packages of baby wipes (no showers in many locations)
- White cotton socks
- Unscented hand cream (very dry)
- Travel sized toiletries
- Paper and pens
- Beef Jerky (on EVERY list we found!)
- Letters

Kindergarten Registration will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012.
Registration hours at Hoover Math & Science Academy will be:
- 9:00 -11:00 am
- 1:00 – 2:30 pm
- 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Children entering Kindergarten must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2012.
On registration day you will need to bring the following items with you:
1. CHILD’S ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE – PHOTOCOPIES NOT ACCEPTED.
Information on how to obtain birth certificates can be found on the following county office websites:

- DuPage County at www.dupageco.org/countyclerk
- Kane County at www.co.kane.il.us/coc
2. PROOF OF RESIDENCY WITHIN SCHOOL DISTRICT 54 BOUNDARIES
Provide ONE of the following:
- A Current Signed Lease,
- A Current Real Estate Tax Bill
- A Closing Statement from the purchase of your home
ALSO provide TWO of the following:
- A Current Driver’s License
- A Current Gas Bill
- A Current Electric Bill
- A Current Telephone Bill
- A Current Auto Registration
- A Current Receipt of Vehicle Sticker.
