Classroom of the Week – 5th Grade Room 116

Room 116 has had a wonderful first two months of school!  We recently wrapped up a nonfiction unit in reading where we learned a lot about the structure of a corn plant, the debate on using corn for ethanol, and the methods of growing corn over time.  In the FUSE lab we have been exploring many challenges such as designing a dream home, programming a video game, printing keychains on the 3D printer, and making roller coasters out of foam tubing.  We have had many fun writing projects as well!  For example, we’ve written a story about a mystery object in a blue bottle, a persuasive letter from the point of view of a scientist, and an Instagram post from the point of view of a Native American trying to adapt to a new environment.  We’re also finding time to celebrate as we’re working towards our second classroom PBIS celebration for good behavior and we just had an amazing Halloween party!  Great job Room 116!
