A Message From Mrs. Ankrom

Dear Hoover community,

Spring has finally sprung on Springinsguth! We have had a great week here at Hoover. We are in the final weeks of school and we could not be more proud of all the accomplishments our students have had this year. Please read below for some of the highlights from this week.

Some of the highlights include the fifth/sixth grade band concert which was held at Keller Junior High. It was very evident that the students have worked hard and put in many hours of practice. Dads and Donuts was such a wonderful way for many to start the day. Thank you to all the dads who took time to come and share a donut and conversation with their child(ren). Without our amazing PTA, this event could not take place! Thank you so much for funding, organizing and serving donuts and dads.

Finally, we ended our week with the PBIS assemblies. Many primary and intermediate students were recognized for their hard work and kind ways. The students enjoyed watching the Salsa Club dance at the assembly, enjoyed listening to students read speeches in Spanish and enjoyed listening to 4th graders play the recorders. Thank you to all staff and students who participated!

Hoover Field Day

We are in need of volunteers for our annual upcoming Field Day on Friday, May 25th.  We are accepting volunteers for either AM, PM or all day availability. Please email our PE teacher, Kim Leam at if you can help out! Thank you.

MAP Testing

The final round of MAP testing begins Monday, May 7th. We are excited to monitor the progress of the goals we set with your child earlier this year. Shortly after the conclusion of the MAP testing window, we will share the results with you.

We are excited to see the growth our students have made since the fall and winter MAP administration.

Empty Bowls Soup Supper

Dear Churchill and Hoover communities,

Thank you for supporting our Empty Bowls Event. Fifth and Sixth grade students and their families along with faculty members successfully created over 125 ceramic glazed bowls. We are so proud of their effort! As we all know the end of the year is very busy. The feedback from the community is to consider having this event at another time during the school year.

While we do not want the power of the Empty Bowls message to be diminished we will be cancelling the May 8th event this year.

Thank you all again for your support!

Are you looking for a comprehensive approach to summer learning that combats boredom and keeps everyone engaged? Look no further! We have created a new website with a wide range of challenges at each grade level to help prevent the summer slide. Visit the School District 54 Virtual Learning University to tackle challenges for literacy, math, science, social science, language and culture too!  Each content area has multiple challenges to keep your children’s minds focused and active throughout the summer weeks! Within each category you will find family activities, individual activities and places to visit in our community and surrounding areas.  We hope you’ll encourage your children to visit our Virtual Learning University often throughout the summer to challenge themselves and to keep your family learning together. Click here to access the Virtual Learning University or find the link under Popular Links on the District 54 website.
