Principal’s Message

Dear HMSA Families,

It has been another great week of V-Learning at Hoover. This week’s special shout out goes to our parents. You have done an amazing job loving, caring for, supporting and teaching your children. We are truly grateful for all you are doing and for your support. We are continuing our focus on the social emotional growth of our students. Each week students still participate in SEL lessons. This week focused on building optimism – we could all use some of that right now! Students shared gratitudes. It made our day to see what they shared.

We believe spring might finally be here and wanted to share a special poem with you written by one of our sixth grade students, Azhar. His poem came in first place in the Schaumburg Library Poetry Contest. We hope you will enjoy it too.

When the snow begins to melt away

and the kids begin to laugh and play

When the rain comes showering down

and turns frowns upside down

When the bees leave their hive

buzzing and making the air alive

When the flowers come into bloom

and bring people out of their rooms

When the birds start singing their song

the one that people haven’t heard in so long

As long nights turn into day

and with a dazzling smile the sun gives way,

All animals and people wonder

whether winter was just a distant dream

NEW Online Reading Resource Website
Great news Hoover Families!  Our district has created a wonderful website so you can access great online reading resources at home.  In addition, a link to the Hoover eBook collection is available.  There are many intermediate level fiction books that students can access through Hoover Destiny Discover system.  Parents, please help your children to make choices that are right for them.

Click here to access our new website.

Yearbooks are in print! TreeRing donates a tree for every yearbook we order. They sent us a beautiful certificate that said “298 trees in honor of the Hoover Math and Science Academy will be planted. This grove of trees is being planted by local families in countries devastated by deforestation and global climate change. These fast-growing permanent trees protect fragile ecosystems and assure that families can continue to live in harmony with the natural resources of their lands. Each year these trees will replace many tons of pollution from the atmosphere with life giving oxygen”. Thank you!

Attention 6th Grade Parents:
Your Sixth Grade Send-off Committee is looking for fun ways to celebrate our students as they get ready to leave Hoover. The dinner previously scheduled for May 8th has been postponed, but we would like to still gift them with a special montage of times spent together at and outside Hoover. We need your help, we need more pictures! Please upload your favorite photos by April 30th to Shutterfly at

If you have difficulty accessing the site or have any questions, please contact Valerie Gough at Thank you!
