Dear HMSA Families,
It has been another great week of V-Learning at Hoover. This week’s special shout out goes to our parents. You have done an amazing job loving, caring for, supporting and teaching your children. We are truly grateful for all you are doing and for your support. We are continuing our focus on the social emotional growth of our students. Each week students still participate in SEL lessons. This week focused on building optimism – we could all use some of that right now! Students shared gratitudes. It made our day to see what they shared.
We believe spring might finally be here and wanted to share a special poem with you written by one of our sixth grade students, Azhar. His poem came in first place in the Schaumburg Library Poetry Contest. We hope you will enjoy it too.
When the snow begins to melt away
and the kids begin to laugh and play
When the rain comes showering down
and turns frowns upside down
When the bees leave their hive
buzzing and making the air alive
When the flowers come into bloom
and bring people out of their rooms
When the birds start singing their song
the one that people haven’t heard in so long
As long nights turn into day
and with a dazzling smile the sun gives way,
All animals and people wonder
whether winter was just a distant dream
NEW Online Reading Resource Website
Great news Hoover Families! Our district has created a wonderful website so you can access great online reading resources at home. In addition, a link to the Hoover eBook collection is available. There are many intermediate level fiction books that students can access through Hoover Destiny Discover system. Parents, please help your children to make choices that are right for them.
Click here to access our new website. https://sites.google.com/sd54.org/hoover-online-reading-resource/home
Yearbooks are in print! TreeRing donates a tree for every yearbook we order. They sent us a beautiful certificate that said “298 trees in honor of the Hoover Math and Science Academy will be planted. This grove of trees is being planted by local families in countries devastated by deforestation and global climate change. These fast-growing permanent trees protect fragile ecosystems and assure that families can continue to live in harmony with the natural resources of their lands. Each year these trees will replace many tons of pollution from the atmosphere with life giving oxygen”. Thank you!
Attention 6th Grade Parents:
Your Sixth Grade Send-off Committee is looking for fun ways to celebrate our students as they get ready to leave Hoover. The dinner previously scheduled for May 8th has been postponed, but we would like to still gift them with a special montage of times spent together at and outside Hoover. We need your help, we need more pictures! Please upload your favorite photos by April 30th to Shutterfly at https://hoover6thgradesendoff2020.shutterfly.com/
If you have difficulty accessing the site or have any questions, please contact Valerie Gough at email@example.com. Thank you!
Class Placements for 2020-2021
We will be starting the class placement process soon. We would like to have accurate numbers when we are placing students. Please be sure to register your child(ren) for next year. Our goal is to have all students registered by May 4. We already have about 50% of our returning families registered. Please help us get to 100% by May4. Details for completing the registration process are below. No money is due at this time. If your child(ren) will not be returning to Hoover please contact BarbaraBoeing@nullsd54.k12.il.us or TeresaShoemaker@nullsd54.k12.il.us.
School Registration (Updated)
Registration for the 2020-21 school year is now open and available through the Infinite Campus Portal. If you have previously created a portal account and cannot recall your username or password, you can reset them yourself from the portal website. Go to http://sd54.org and click on Infinite Campus Parent Portal under Popular Links. If you have not previously created a portal account, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to create one.
To enroll your child for the 2020-21 school year:
Update Your Information: Log on to the parent portal by Monday, May 4, 2020 to review the current information and make any necessary changes. You must hit the SUBMIT button after reviewing the information, even if you don’t make any changes. If your child(ren) will not be attending District 54 schools next year, please inform our office where your child will be attending school in the fall so that we can prepare your child’s records for transfer. You can email our secretaries at BarbaraBoeing@nullsd54.k12.il.us or TeresaShoemaker@nullsd54.k12.il.us.
Residency: All families are required to prove that they live within District 54 boundaries every year. If we were unable to verify your residency electronically, you will have the ability to upload your residency electronically through your portal. If you are unable to upload the documents needed at this time, you will be able to provide them in person when our offices reopen. If your address information was verified electronically, you will not be prompted to upload residency documentation and will not need to provide any documents.
Information about bussing and material fees will be communicated this summer. Should you have any questions, please contact your child’s current school office at the above email. Thank you very much.
Wishing you good health and happiness! Remember no V-Learning on Mondays for the rest of the year and this week no V-Learning on Tuesday for third graders and Wednesday for fourth graders. Have a great weekend!
