Hello Hoover Families,
HIP HAWK HOORAY! The end-of-year excitement is reaching new heights at Hoover! We’ve been having a blast with our Hip Hawk Hooray Countdown, marking off the days with joy and school spirit. Students loved their "Plan Ahead" visits, getting a sneak peek at their next grade levels, as well as spending some quality time with their buddy classes. The Rocketry Club successfully held their official rocket launch—it was incredible to see all of their hard work take flight! A huge Hip Hawk Hooray to our Battle of the Books teams, who represented us with pride and impressive knowledge at the District competition. Finally, our Gratitude Wall is overflowing with beautiful memories as students share their favorite moments from this school year!
A couple reminders for next week:
Wednesday, May 20th is a half day for students. Dismissal is at 11:40am.
Friday, May 22nd is our Hoover Field Day! Please remember to put sunscreen on your student, send them in gym shoes and with a water bottle.
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend!
All the best,
Alissa Carey, Principal
Jenny Henriksen, Assistant Principal

In Literacy, we are learning about how Marco Polo improved the economy through trade and how the Silk Road is still used today but just in a more modern way. In Writing, we just wrapped up our parallel narratives and are now practicing writing in the informative style. In Math, some of us are learning about perfect squares and the Pythagorean Theorem. While others are learning about geometry and the volume of different shapes. Sometimes we use calculators when working with decimals and fractions. In Social Studies, we are learning about the Silk Road and what it was like for merchants to travel along the Silk Road. We are doing a simulation pretending to be merchants traveling on the silk road. Some of us got good weather while others had bad luck and got robbed by thieves. In Library, we are making a Google Sites about big brands. We spent the first couple of weeks researching the brand and now we have moved on to putting all the information together. Did you know the most expensive LEGO piece ever sold was $18,000?
