What is Glogster, Voki & Kidblog?

Students were introduced to a new Internet based blogging site called Glogster.  This Social Networking site allows students to create interactive poster boards.  Each student was given their own protected Glogster profile page where they created many different types of Glogs. Students can view the glog pages of their classmates as well other classrooms.  They were encouraged to use many of the different tools of Glogster to create poster boards that were animated, interesting and interactive.

6th Grade students created glogs for their Egypt Reports, Memoir project and a classroom Newspaper

5th Grade students created glogs about their book trailers as well as a personal Glog

What is Voki?

Voki is an educational tool that allows users to create their very own talking character. Voki is created by Oddcast and is located in New York City. Voki characters can be customized to look like historical figures, cartoons, animals, and even yourself!

Students in 6th grade were given accounts to create their own animated character for a variety of different projects. To see their personal Voki click on the following links.

Kidblog is built by teachers, for teachers, so students can get the most out of the writing process. Our mission is to empower teachers to embrace the benefits of the coming digital revolution in education. As students become creators – not just consumers – of information, we recognize the crucial role of teachers as discussion moderators and content curators in the classroom. With Kidblog, teachers monitor and control all activity within their classroom blogging community.

Students 4th -6th students have their own kidblog accounts and have been entering posts of books that they read throughout the year. Students in the grade level have been making thoughtful comments and asking thoughtful questions on each other’s pages.
